FOOD SAFETY 101

Welcome to Food Safety 101 Training

In this set of lessons, you will learn the importance of having a food safety system for food manufacturing and how sanitation plays a key role in the food safety system. You will learn about the foundational principles of the Food Safety Modernization Act, HACCP, and why good sanitation practices are important. These general principles are applicable to food manufacturing as well as animal welfare in harvesting facilities and agricultural crop production. You will also gain new knowledge about, as well as understanding job opportunities in various aspects of food manufacturing and safety.

You can come back to each lesson as many times as you wish.  We estimate it will take you 45 mins to complete it, but you can stop anywhere you wish and restart again at a later time, as your schedule allows. You do not have to complete it in a single setting.

After working through each lesson and practice quiz, you will be directed to a practice lesson quiz. You may take these up to 3 times.  Once completing all lessons, you will be able to take a final quiz which covers material from all lessons.  You may also take this graded quiz 3 times.  When you earn an 80% or better on the final quiz, you will earn the badge of completion.

If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Tamla Blunt (Tamla.Blunt@colostate.edu) or Dr. Deana Namuth-Covert (Deana.Namuth-Covert@colostate.edu).
